Vulcan angles to be nation's first 'Salmon-Safe' real estate developer

During the 2015 Clinton Global Initiative conference in Denver, Seattle-based Vulcan Inc., announced its commitment to Salmon-Safe's developer accreditation initiative. It's the nation's first such program, and Vulcan plans to be the first Salmon-Safe-accredited real estate developer.

Deschutes Brewery & Columbia Distributing Join Forces to Raise More than $16,000 for Salmon-Safe

Salmon-Safe is thrilled to announce that today we received a $16,600 donation from the Deschutes Brewery and Columbia Distributing Beer Machines Party held in Portland last month. The party, which was held during the annual Craft Brewers Conference, featured steam-punk style beer machines built by local artists. The donation was comprised of artist sales of the beer machines, with a matching donation from Deschutes Brewery.

Biodynamic & beyond: announcing our new partnership with Demeter USA

Demeter, the U.S. certifier for Biodynamic® agriculture and products, today joined with Salmon-Safe, one of the nation’s leading regional eco-labels, in a new partnership to enhance water quality protection and wildlife habitat restoration on Biodynamic farms. The collaboration was announced to an audience of Biodynamic growers at the National Heirloom Expo in Santa Rosa, California.

Hero of Butterflies? Van Duzer Vineyards earns Salmon-Safe "Hero of Salmon" award for native butterfly restoration

Today Salmon-Safe presented our “Hero of Salmon” award to Oregon's Van Duzer Vineyards for exceptional work in protection of landscape-level biodiversity in vineyards and adjacent natural areas. The award, a chinook salmon sculpture in stainless steel, is hand crafted from a salvaged Oregon highway sign. It is presented annually by Salmon-Safe to a Northwest wine grower at the LIVE annual meeting. Recent winners have included Ponzi Vineyards and Goschie Farms.
