Salmon-Safe Urban Partners

Salmon-Safe implements our urban projects through a network of partnering organizations that share our vision for transforming land management practices to protect wild Pacific salmon. Key partners include Northwest Watershed Institute, Salmon-Safe's primary scientific consultants, as well as Washington State University's Western Washington Pesticide Education Program.

Ecotrust's Salmon Nation and the city of Portland's River Renaissance program were lead partners in our 2004 public education campaign. The city of Portland's Natural Resource Team and Portland Parks & Recreation, assisted in the development and field testing of certification standards.

Salmon-Safe certification requires that new design be consistent with Salmon-Safe standards, including low impact development designs such as bio-filtration swales.
