Recognition Campaigns

Salmon-Safe public service advertising & recognition campaigns celebrate certified landowners.

Scenes of salmon climbing a park slide or leaping from a playground water fountain have been among the images that have greeted Portland commuters during Salmon-Safe's high profile public awareness campaigns. The Salmon-Safe Portland Parks bus sides were part of a 6-month SALMON + OUR PARKS awareness campaign by Salmon-Safe and Ecotrust Salmon Nation.

How are you communicating your environmental leadership?

SALMON + OUR PARKS, and more recent campaigns celebrating the certification of Nike's World Headquarters campus and Portland State University, have each reached more than 600,000 Portland area residents. Depending on the marketing needs of certified companies, Salmon-Safe also offers public radio underwriting, newspaper public service advertising, or ad placement in targeted industry journals.

Salmon-Safe also works with certified organizations to offer media events and community celebrations. Salmon-Safe and Portland Parks & Recreation kicked off the SALMON + OUR PARKS campaign with a day-long public celebration on the river at Willamette Park. Media events & site tours to announce Salmon-Safe certification have generated extensive print and electronic media coverage for many Salmon-Safe clients.

Building brand & business value through high impact campaigns

Corporate and university certifications including Nike and Portland State University also have been promoted with high visibility public service ad campaigns in the Portland area. Salmon-Safe's 2006 campaign celebrating the certification of Nike's world headquarters campus included print ad PSAs and bus side advertising. For Portland State University, Salmon-Safe developed a targeted 6-month campaign that included a media event, bus side advertising, and billboards.

Salmon-Safe public service campaigns are a pro bono project of Portland ad agency Livengood-Nowack with ongoing support from media sponsors Clear Channel Communications and Lamar Media.


Salmon-Safe's "Slide" ad for Portland Parks & Recreation was featured in public service bus side advertising and targeted print ads, reinforcing the agency's national reputation for environmental leadership while engaging Portland citizens in ecologically sustainable yard & garden practices.
